Program Information

CampbellCare is our district-operated high quality childcare program located on our elementary school campuses year round, including teacher in-service days and many holidays. Before and after school, we offer a safe and nurturing place where children can have fun while learning and making friends.

After school, we enrich your child’s learning through student-inspired clubs focused on Science, Technology, Recreation, Engineering, Arts and Math (STREAM). Students participate in age-appropriate, hands-on activities involving science, cooking, music, art, martial arts, scrapbooking, photography, world travel, dance, sports, and more. There is truly something for everyone.

Registration Information

The Expanded Learning Department has made some adjustments to the CampbellCare after-school registration process. We also want to share how our enrollment must be prioritized based on new legislation. The Expanded Learning Department will implement the new registration process for this coming school year.

The legislation requires that priority placement be given to students in grades TK-6 who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Homeless or Foster Youth
  • English Learner
  • Free or Reduced Lunch Status

The families of eligible students will be given the opportunity to enroll first, then, if capacity allows, enrollment will be opened up to all. If the number of interested applicants exceeds capacity, there will be a lottery.  ELOP applications will be processed in priority of the day in which the completed application was received, rather than the previous minute by minute priority process.

We are aware of the need for high quality before and after school care for our families, and we are continuing our commitment to hire more staff. We appreciate the support you provide when you refer responsible friends and family members to job openings on our employment page

After-school registration for students who have been identified as ELOP eligible, will be open on March 11, 2024. Families will receive the registration link via Parent Square.

Families who desire after-school care, who do not have ELOP eligible students, can begin submitting their interest on March 11, 2024 to the 2024-2025 interest list form further down. The 2024-2025 fee rates can be found in the resource section on the top of this page.

Morning Care Registration for all students will open on March 1, 2024 about 12pm on our registration webiste HERE.

Registration for 5th grade students going to Rolling Hills and Monroe for 2024-2025 will take place in May to align with CUSD's school placement notifications. Registration for current 6th and 7th grade students at these two schools will open on March 11, 2024. Monroe families will be notified through Parent Square. Rolling Hill's families will be able to register HERE

5th-7th grade students at CSI and Sherman Oaks will follow the same registration process underlined above.

Registration FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Legislation?

The California State Legislature has allocated on-going funding designated for Expanded Learning through the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) to serve transitional kindergarten through sixth grade students who are homeless/foster youth, qualify for free/reduced lunch or are English Language Learners. This law requires all local education agencies (LEAs) in California to offer a minimum of nine hours instructional time for the school day and before and/or after school programming.

How many students in the district meet one of the qualifying criteria?

CUSD’s 2023-2024 data shows 2,148 students meet one of the qualifying criteria. Of this group, only ten percent indicated interest based on a survey. 2024-2025 data shows 2,249 students meet one of the qualifying criteria.

What does this mean for CUSD Expanded Learning’s CampbellCare Registration?

CUSD must first offer registration to families with a student/s who meets one of the ELO-P criteria above. For the 2024-25 school year, identified families will receive an email through ParentSquare on March 11, 2024. Identified families must enroll their students by March 30, 2024. Enrollment will then be opened to those who do not meet the specific eligibility requirements.

What if my student does not meet one of the criteria?

CUSD families can submit their information to our online CampbellCare

Fee-Based Interest List. It will be available starting on March 11, 2024.

Once all students who meet the ELO-P criteria are given an opportunity to register, any remaining spots, if any, will be filled by lottery from the CampbellCare Fee-Based interest list.

All families who have submitted their interest form will be notified about whether there will be a lottery for CampbellCare at their school site and when it will take place. It will also be noted on the Expanded Learning website.

Drawings will be site specific. If a site has reached capacity, no lottery will take place.

The interest list will be kept for the 2024-2025 school year. In the event of student withdrawals or increases in program capacity, we will conduct a lottery for the available spots so that anyone on the interest list has an equal chance for the available spot/s.

What is the registration process for the CampbellCare morning program?

The ELO-P legislation will not change the online registration process for the morning program. CUSD families will be able to register, first-come first-served, for the fee-based morning care programs listed on our registration website. On March 1, 2024 about 12pm.

What are my options if the afternoon CampbellCare program at my school site reaches full capacity?

Submit your online CampbellCare Interest Form to our Expanded Learning Department. The form will be available March 11, 2024 on our website. Any remaining spots, if any, will be filled by lottery.

Current CUSD families who have needed other child care options have used off-site child care centers in the community (some who provide transportation), child transportation companies, nannies, babysitters, and/or family/friends
